My Story:
I’ve always had a passion for championing people to reach towards their greatest potential and wellbeing. For many years I enjoyed managing health promotion and wellness programs in corporations, hospitals, and communities. As a health educator I have had an ongoing fascination with the science of behavior change and with turning complex scientific and clinical information into easy-to-understand concepts for the lay person. I’ve applied these skills in my work as a coach, my work as a health and medical writer, and in my work creating and facilitating wellness programs.
As much as I love being a health educator, over time I became highly disillusioned with the wellness field. I saw that in theory the intention for improving wellbeing was there, but in reality the outcomes were not. I noticed that although people appreciated learning how to improve their health, learning was not enough to lead to lasting behavior change or improved life satisfaction. There was an important missing piece that I did not discover until I began training in applied positive psychology with The Flourishing Center. Here I saw that having the practical behavior skills for improving physical wellbeing is incomplete without the skills for psychological wellbeing. Simply said, positive psychology completes me!! Bringing applied positive psychology teachings into the world has enhanced beyond measure both my life personally and my work as a wellness professional and positive change agent.
Morning Ritual:
I open each day sitting in meditation, a daily practice I’ve had since age 17. Then, as I get out of bed and before my feet touch the ground I always say thank you. Starting my day with appreciation is a cherished delight! Next I drink a ginormous glass of water!
A Little Known Fact About Me…
I will dance anytime, anywhere! Won’t you join me?
