The Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) Program consists of 7 On Site Weekends (all day from 9am to 6pm) and 18 Distance Learning classes that meet weekly online (week night and times vary per program). The program modules follow the PERMA-V™ Model of pathways to flourishing (Positivity, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement and Vitality) equipping students with theory, measurement and tools to build each path and enable flourishing within themselves and others.

OS 1
Positivity
In this first On Site you will get an overview of what positive psychology (PP) is and is not. Learn what it means to be a practitioner of PP. Uncover the history of happiness research and how we use science to boost mood, increase positive affect, and build lasting happiness. Discover positive interventions and activities for boosting wellbeing. Unpack the science of gratitude and how to leverage positivity. Top off the weekend with your new community of like-minded and like-hearted change agents (who now feel like lifelong friends) and uncover the science of mindset. Continue the goodness online as you head into your weekly Distance Learnings. You will dive deeply into how mindset is impacted by praise. Learn to identify fixed and growth mindsets in others and guide them on their path to greater success and wellbeing.
OS 2
Positivity
Reunite with your CAPP Family for Part 2 of the Positivity Curriculum diving deep into evolutionary neuroscience. Learn the brain science of how people tick and how brain biases impact wellbeing. Learn to better navigate being human through self-awareness, self-compassion and self-care. Uncover how to navigate yours and other people’s stress response. Top of the weekend with an exploration of neuroplasticity, neurogenesis, and neurochemicals. During the online distance learnings, dive deeply for many weeks into the science of optimism. Uncover how to shift people out of pessimism and into resilient thinking and action. Learn to help people navigate their emotions and build their sense of personal mastery.
OS 3
Engagement
This module equips you with the tools to help people feel more engaged and in control of their life. We start with a deep exploration of self-regulation as the foundation of engagement. Learn how all contemplative and wellness practices utilize and train willpower. Learn to help others have more self-discipline while procrastinating less. Help yourself and others show up in the the world the way they want to. Learn the science behind how mindfulness and meditation work and why they’re distinct and beneficial. Practice utilizing savoring as a unique positive intervention. Unleash the power of character strengths and learn to help others leverage “what’s right” in a world that focuses on “what’s wrong.” In your distance learning sessions, uncover the science of flow and peak performance. Learn to help yourself and others get in the zone. Lastly, learn about conscious and unconscious decision making and how becoming better at navigating choices helps us become more engaged.
OS 4
Relationships
At our program’s peak we take on one of life’s most important and vulnerable topics: relationships. We start with a thorough foundation of flourishing relationships. Learn to build the aspects of connections that take good relationships and make them great. Discover the science of belonging, vulnerability, trust, altruism and so much more. Learn about the biological underpinnings of connection. Experience first hand, the power of community and practical interventions for deepening connection. During the Distance Learning modules, you will learn how trust is built and what enables high-quality connections. Practice navigating difficulties in relationships, in particular how to deal with arguments, “difficult people”, and challenging situations. And lastly, learn about the science of love and how to nourish and navigate this profound connection to others.
OS 5
Meaning
After tackling one of life’s most vulnerable topics, we take on one life’s most difficult questions, “Why are you here?” Uncover the science of purpose and meaning in life. Many people who face this question are faced with doubt or anxiety. Use the science to navigate these questions from a place of clarity and confidence. Discover the impact that spirituality makes on wellbeing and how humans are wired for the need to connect to sacredness. Learn to use this information to help individuals and organizations navigate their wellbeing. Unpack emotions such as awe and transcendence, and learn how to create these experiences within individuals and groups.
OS 6
Achievement
Next we train you in the science of achievement. Learn to help others move from hopeless to hopeful, disengaged to intrinsically motivated, and from stuck to action. During the On Site, learn and practice coaching skills for helping others help themselves. Learn to drive behavior change through research based practices. During the distance learning you’ll put the science of goal setting and habit change into practice. Discover the key ingredients that propel positive change and how to utilize visualization, questions, primers and other research based tools for greater success.
OS 7
Vitality
Finally we reach vitality. While we imbue every module with a connection to how the topics you learn relate to the brain and other systems of the body, this module takes a deeper dive into the science of optimal physical function. We explore what it means to host a thriving mind in a thriving body. During the Distance Learning modules uncover the science of sleep and physical activity. Armed with this knowledge, you will be able to help people understand what is happening in their body during these important states. Learn about the psycho-somatic principle (how the mind affects the body) and the somato-psychic principle (how the body affects the mind). Learn about the impact of posture, fascia, nutrition, nature and movement on wellbeing. Uncover practical solutions for not just preventing illness, but building high level wellness. Savor and celebrate your final On Site weekend as each classmate presents their final projects. Participate in a moving ceremony enCAPPsulating your journey and preparing you for the path ahead.
Attendance Policy: To earn the certification, participants must participate in at least 60% of the programming live. All On Sites and Distance Learning classes are recorded in case you’re absent, so you never miss the content.

We offer two convenient ways to register:
*By registering with the Payment Plan, you agree that your card will be charged $1495.00 for the deposit. You will then be charged five additional payments of $1,000 each, every 30 days, with the first payment occurring on the first day the course starts. Failed payments will be allowed a one week (7 days) grace period after which a late fee of $25 per day will be added.
