Final Project Friday - Burn Bright Without Burning Out with Ofelia Olivero

Ofelia Olivero – Dr. Ofelia Olivero is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified life coach. At ICF she serves as a Secretary of the Maryland Board of Directors. As a coach, she is empowering people to be themselves, look for their passions, and move forward with their own solutions. Her work involves a whole person approach, in career development, leadership skills and other issues that impact people’s lives. She comes from a scientific background, and after a career as a cancer researcher she retired to pursue her passion for coaching.

Ofelia obtained her PhD in cytogenetics in Argentina and subsequently joined the National Cancer Institute (NCI) where she has worked since 1987. Dr. Olivero’s research impacted human health since she focused on the effect of anti-AIDS drugs in pregnancy. She is the author and co-author of more than 80 scientific articles, more than 180 submissions to conferences, book chapters and a book. She has been invited to deliver scientific lectures nationally and internationally. Her mentoring skills had a relevant influence on more than thirty trainees under her supervision and others that were recipients of the benefits of mentoring programs she created. She is the sole author of the book Mentoring in the Interdisciplinary Sciences.

Ofelia has been a reviewer of the Office of Women’s Health, US Food and Drug Administration, and the National Toxicology Program and has taken on numerous other leadership positions. Though coaching she hopes to be able to support and empower people through a holistic approach.

What inspired her final project: “Helping others to find their own solutions internally, not externally.
