Event Details

Hi friends, We’ve got many book authors in this community, but (to my knowledge) no one has created a pocket book until now. Join me to welcome Alexandria Skeete, author of Beyond How Are You, a pocket book designed to help “askers” and “responders” approach this question with curiosity and meaning.

About Alexandria Skeete (CAPP.105)

What inspired my final project

My mom’s death in 2019 was the catalyst, so every StoryLine™ is a tiny piece of her living on and continuing to help others.  CAPP.92, a friend who was a psychologist, and my friends at ReNU 2023 helped me start to frame the power of StoryLines™ into terms that others could understand and gave me the focus to bring StoryLines™ to larger audiences.

Where I hope I’ll be in 5 years

Personally, I hope that positive psychology remains a firm pillar in my mind and helps me continue to meet awesome humans. Professionally, I hope that the book opens up new doors for partnerships, speaking engagements, and coaching opportunities. I also would love to contribute to research in the field as I’ve noticed (like in many psych fields) there could be a bit more diversity and understanding of what positive psychology looks like from non-traditional perspectives.

What inspired my final project

The book idea came to me during such a pivotal time in my life as I’d started CAPP the same day I was laid off from my job of almost 8 years. I considered creating a coaching program or training as my final project, but I’ve been in the consulting industry for a while now, and the delivery is intangible. I wanted to create something that people could touch and feel. I’ve also been writing for as long as I can remember, so writing a book felt natural.

Bio

Alexandria Theresa Skeete, a child of God, engineer by education, and strategist by trade, has been a thinker and writer for as long as she can remember. As a positive psychology practitioner, she is fascinated by all things wellness and human flourishing. Her happy place is creating safe spaces for greater understanding, depth, and connection. Alexandria is on a mission to create more than she consumes, and her book “Beyond How Are You” a reflection of that.

Note: this event is open to students & graduates of the Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) Program.
