About Leah (CAPP.110)

Top VIA Character Strengths

  • Curiosity, Zest, Love of learning

If I could sit down with a PP researcher

  • I’d sit down with Kelly McGonical and ask her what is going on behind the curtain and whether she ever struggles with stress, herself (given that she has achieved so much in so little time).

Where I’ll be on my PP journey in 5 years

  • I currently have a number of projects going at any one time (a couple of part time jobs, two businesses). In five years, I hope that my entrepreneurial pursuits and self-sustaining. I am not in need of part time jobs to supplement the work. I can do the work from anywhere. I can regularly do work-cations. And I have a sustainable enough income that I am confident I can take care of my more vulnerable family members and can regularly give back to my community. I also would like to have authored a coach training program for people who want to work specifically with highly sensitive people.

What inspired my final project

At our clinic, we wanted to create a program aimed at helping women who run a business to have reliable energy (in other words, we wanted to help women entrepreneurs with navigating burnout). It turns out – burnout and metabolic dysfunction go hand in hand. If you solve one, you naturally solve the other. They require the exact same tools. While in the Applied Positive Psychology course, it seemed like a natural fit to apply a positive psychology approach to helping women cultivate metabolic health.
