The Flourishing Center
246 W. 80th Street, 5th Floor, #17
New York
Tired of buying annual planners and not using them?
Feel like you have a half a dozen journals for different things, yet you still feel disorganized? Feel like digital planners, to-do list apps and habit trackers aren’t for you?
Then you my friend, are probably a Bullet Journaler, you just didn’t know it. This 4 hour workshop will teach you how to get started in the worlds simplest, yet most comprehensive and joyful way to organize your life, your schedule, habits, journaling, ideas, dreams, goals and more.
The secret is it’s a SYSTEM not a BOOK.
You’ll find lots of resources online on how to get started. Or, come join us in person for this hands on PLAYSHOP with a group of like-minded and like-hearted people. Join productivity and positivity expert, Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, who will guide you through a step-by-step process to creating and sustaining an approach to Bullet Journaling.
I repeat, CREATING and SUSTAINING. For years I would get excited to buy a new planner, program or app. Once the novelty wore off, the planner joined the stack of barely written in journals, the apps got deleted and the programs got archived.
It took years of diving into the science of positive psychology and behavior change, combined with the art of Bullet Journaling, to create a system that kept me sticking to my organization system daily. This approach has helped me help dozens of clients. And, if you’ve been struggling to get organized, but keep trying over and over again, then it’s likely that this approach is going to work for you too.
Not only will you learn how to Bullet Journal, you’ll receive individual coaching on what to build, and the accountability to stick to the plan.

Lecture Series – The Science of Fat with Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, MAPP, MCC, ERYT
Does your New Years resolution involve fat? According to an article at Inc.com, a study of 2,000 people found that the top three resolutions that people set in 2019 have to do with fat! People said they would:
- Diet or eat healthier (71%)
- Exercise more (65%)
- Lose weight (54%)
In America around 160 million people are obese or overweight. What’s your relationship to fat like? Are you trying to lose it or gain it? Do you tame it? Or, do you shame it?
Join Emiliya to take a look at fat from a scientific perspective.
- What is it? How does it work?
- How is it entwined with our nervous system, immune system, muscles and mood?
- Why do some people pack on fat while others rarely struggle with theirs?
In the same way that Positive Psychology has helped us create a more a more harmonious relationship with our “inner elephant,” this session, will help us use the science of fat to create a more respectful relationship with it. And in the process, we’ll learn to gain greater mastery over fat, which includes shrinking fat cells, releasing weight and using fat more efficiently in the body.
*Must be a CAPP Student or Graduate to register
Community Jam – January
Hey CAPPsters! There’s no better way to jump into 2019 than with our tribe! Join us on January 25 for our monthly CAPP Community Jam. Emily Felt will be hosting a session of sharing, laughing and cheering. It’s a great way to connect with other CAPPsters in this community!
We’ll look at:
- What are your goals and projects for this year?
- What strengths will you put to use to manifest them?
Bring your thinking caps and virtual bear hugs!
*This event is open to all current CAPP students and graduates.
Brain Boot Camp
Did 2018 leave you spinning or overwhelmed?
Are you feeling like it’s the 2nd week of the new year and you haven’t yet gotten yourself mentally organized, centered and focused? Join Emiliya at TFC Headquarters for a 3-hour Brain Bootcamp Jan 12!
Learn how to apply the positive psychology research of:
- Goal setting
- Mindset
- Visualization
- The neuroscience of motivation
- and more
Get coaching and support
Receive personalized coaching alongside the support of others who are ready to get their butt into gear and make the new year reflect the best version of themselves.
If you’re fairly linear, bring just paper and pen. If you’re itching to tap your creativity, bring a big pad, colored markers, pencils, washi tape and whatever else calls to you. We’ll have lots of materials here to work with as well, just bring a place to map out your process that you can take home with you (not our whiteboard wall).
We’ll work through a 3 step process of taking the best from the past, assessing your present, and dreaming up the future in a way. While it sounds simple, it’s not. If it were you probably would have already done it. Inevitably we face resistance, self-doubt, remorse, shame, frustration and can have a hard time seeing what’s in store.
That’s when it helps to have a coach and the support of the group because as productivity coach Charlie Gilkey says, “It’s hard to read the label when you’re stuck inside the jar.”
So if you’re watching 2019 already starting to fly by and feel like you haven’t hit the ground running, give yourself the gift of 3 hours to focus on Y-O-U. Your goals. Your dreams. Your intentions. Your needs. Your past successes. Your lessons learned, all in a fun experiential afternoon.
Oh and we’ll have snacks, and our hypoallergenic Flourishing Mascot Dora (a Pomeranian poodle) will be there too. Here goals are the same every year though. Love and kiss everyone she can. And hop from lap to lap trying to get a belly rub from anyone that visits The Flourishing Center, lol.

Researcher Webinar – Jer Clifton
We’re happy to welcome Jer Clifton for a Positive Psychology Researcher Webinar. He’ll present his research on the new concept of Primals.
What are Primals? Primals are your beliefs about the world, or your gut-level answers to the question What sort of world is this? Most people have 22 distinct beliefs about the world as a whole, and they influence our personalities, experiences and ultimately our wellbeing.
Intrigued? Get extra credit by taking your Primals assessment prior to the webinar! (Just kidding, but I promise he’ll provide insight into your results)
About Jer Clifton
Jer is currently a doctoral candidate in psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. He studies under the guidance of Dr. Martin Seligman. Upon returning to academia in 2013 after an initial career in urban economic development strategy, Jer spent five years creating a foundational, empirically-derived typology of primal world beliefs, also called primals, which are people’s most basic beliefs about the general character of reality (e.g., the world is dangerous, the world is beautiful, etc.).
He recently published this typology, as well as the Primals Inventory to measure it, in Psychological Assessment. His research finds that primals strongly predict and theoretically influence numerous behaviors and outcomes. These include wellbeing, personality traits and character strengths, professional success, depression, and voting behavior.
