In this Practitioner Profile episode, Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, CEO & Founder of The Flourishing Center, speaks with Salina Iavarone, a life coach, speaker and co-host of the Live Your Freakin’ Life Podcast. After leaving a career at her church of 20+ years, Salina discovered positive psychology, and with it, the ability to listen to her body and trust in herself. She now uses her practitioner training to work with people who are undergoing the tumultuous process of leaving or gaining a new perspective on their religious faith.
Episode 90: A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON FAITH with Salina Iavarone
Salina studied psychology early on, but left her education to become heavily involved in her church, first as a volunteer and later as staff. After the heart wrenching discovery that she wasn’t happy (but really wanted to be), she turned within. Through positive psychology she opened up to science-backed practices that her religious faith had held as dangerous and suspicious, with the ultimate discovery of a deep trust in herself and in her body.
Salina currently coaches people who find themselves on a similar journey of questioning aspects of their faith. She helps people to loosen their identities and navigate the difficulties that arise when what you’ve been told or sold for decades no longer works for you. She also works with clients to investigate somatic experience and the process of listening to their bodies through energy work and holistic treatments.
On the Live Your Freakin Life podcast, Salina and her co-host share conversations about their new perspective on faith. She’s also working on a book about her journey and how she learned to find the fruits of God in a place she wasn’t even looking: the science of positive psychology.
