The Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) is our premiere program and one of the world’s leaders in the field of Positive Psychology training.
We are the first program of its kind to focus equally rigorously on theory as we do practical application. We give our graduates the skills and materials to put their training to use right away and create sustainable work for themselves in the world.

The CAPP Program is ideal for educators, business innovators and social entrepreneurs, coaches, managers, consultants, HR professionals, executives, leaders, facilitators, yoga teachers, nutritionists, body workers, doctors, psychologists and other mental health/wellness practitioners, teachers and educators, curriculum designers and more.
This 240-hour, 6-month training program (or 9-months for the online version) is designed around the model of Flourishing developed by Dr. Martin Seligman, founder of Positive Psychology, and enhanced with an added emphasis on physical well-being. It consists of six modules focusing on increasing Positivity, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement and Vitality (PERMA-V™). Graduates integrate and enhance their personal and professional lives through their structured training in flourishing and measurably build their well-being.
In this training you will
Each of the program’s modules is designed to focus on 1 aspect of the model of flourishing to provide participants with the depth of knowledge, theory and research-based tools to demonstrate and share PP with others.
Module 1: Positivity
In this module we focus on the role positivity plays as a pathway to flourishing. We discuss the benefits of frequent positive affect (emotions) and how they can improve your success relationships, well-being and more.
Module 2: Engagement
In this module we focus on the role engagement plays as a pathway to flourishing and understanding the ideal conditions that support engagement.
Module 3: Relationships
In this module we focus on the role positivity plays in the development of flourishing relationships, as well as the science of how healthier relationships are formed.
Module 4: Meaning
In this module we will study the history of inquiry on meaning, the four components of meaning, how to measure meaning within individuals, and much more.
Module 5: Achievement
In this module we will explore the relationship between achievement and flourishing, the role of money and basic needs in developing happiness and life-satisfaction, and the shadow side of achievement and social comparison.
Module 6: Vitality
In this final module we will define just what vitality is and why it’s sometimes left out of the flourishing conversation. We’ll discuss how to define health as more than the absence of illness, how to see self-care as healthcare, plus a polarity model for health and wellness.

Accreditation & Partners
The Flourishing Center is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Flourishing Center maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
The CAPP Program offers 36 CCEs through the International Coach Federation (ICF).
The Toronto, Saskatoon and Vancouver programs are offered in partnership with The Canadian Positive Psychology Association (CPPA).
In partnership with Saybrook University, Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology Graduates can earn 6 graduate level credits to apply towards a matriculating degree at Saybrook.
We do our best to keep our program affordable given the tremendous value jam packed into this learning journey. However, we understand people’s individual needs and do our best to make CAPP accessible to those who are serving their community and are passionate change agents.
Every semester we offer one 50% scholarship, per location for a total of 14 half scholarships that are awarded. The award is given based on financial need and community outreach. The award decision is made by our committee of CAPP Graduates.
