Kalpana has been an inspiration to the CAPP 5 class since day 1 by immersing herself in the education of positive psychology and by being a constant SOcial-eMOtional leader. Kalpana was exposed to positive psychology from a very young age, thanks to her family. When she grew up, she first became an investment banking financial analyst, but she knew her calling was to help others. She followed her heart and became a psychotherapist, hoping to find a way to integrate psychology, yoga, music, writing and other holistic modalities to help people achieve well-being in their lives.
Her purpose and passion in life is helping people to “see light, beauty and hope in any situation in which they may find themselves, and most importantly, to uncover the beauty that lies within – a sacred center that is untouched by the world and life circumstances.” She uses one-on-one coaching and counseling, group work through workshops and speeches, as well as her singing and writing to empower people to flourish and help them access inner wisdom and inspiration.PToday, Kalpana is a highly accomplished SOcial-eMOtional leader in her personal and professional life. Not only does she implement positive psychology in her work as a psychotherapist, but she is also the Founder and Owner of Wellness Around The World, LLC, an international practice whose mission is to inspire people and to empower them with the tools they need to live flourishing lives. She is a certified yoga teacher, a licensed Heal Your Life® teacher, a Flourishing Skills group facilitator, and has studied reiki and pranic healing. She sings Indian spiritual, pop and classical music as well as American pop music, has released several CDs in Indian music and has a certificate in music therapy from India. She recently became a published author in the personal development field, having written a chapter called ‘Hold On To The Paperclip’ in The Empowerment Manual (compiled by Visionary Insight Press), a book that was just released in October 2015, and is now available on amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com (If you wish to have an autographed copy of the book, you can order from Kalpana directly.)
Kalpana entered our CAPP classroom every onsite with a smile on her face and gave everyone a loving welcome. She was so engaged in the conversation in our on-sites, as well as in our distance learning calls that she inadvertently taught many of us the questions we didn’t even know to ask. Her love for the subject, her mission to achieve well-being for herself and help others around her to do the same, and her inner glow shone through our class.
For her CAPP final project, she started a non-profit project called “Letters from the Heart” whose mission is to encourage people to write letters of encouragement, hope and inspiration to people all around the world who may be in need of it. Kalpana is currently in India, where she plans to spend time every year, and spread positive psychology through workshops for children and adults and positive music programs.
