BUSINESS WITH CONVICTION AND ACCOMPLISHMENT
In Coaches Corner episodes I coach a client in real-time! It’s like being a fly on the wall in my office ☺️. This week’s client wanted to feel a sense of accomplishment in her new business, but needed to sit with tough emotions and connect with her conviction. Listen to how coaching with paraphrasing, metaphor, and curious questions support her on her journey.
In this episode, Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, CEO & Founder of The Flourishing Center, takes us through a real-time coaching session.
Ep. 88 BUSINESS WITH CONVICTION AND ACCOMPLISHMENT
Listen in on this session to hear coaching in action. Emiliya uses the positive psychology coaching model to help her client, Jen, a consultant who recently left her employer of 22 years to launch her own business in executive communications. Together Emiliya and Jen work through growing, learning, and processing the emotions that come up so Jen can feel successful, get energized and experience a sense of accomplishment at the end of her work week.
Faith and Conviction in a New Business
Starting a new business can feel like drinking from a hose. How do you know when you’ve done enough? What accomplishments are important enough to celebrate? Emiliya celebrates Jen’s strength and sense of purpose in the work that she does in her new business and in managing to balance her children and family at home.
Running Away vs. Running Towards
Emiliya and Jen identify a tough emotion: embarrassment. As Jen runs towards a career she wants, she runs away from being embarrassed, not knowing whether she’s doing enough or when to “mark success”. Together they explore how all emotions, even the difficult ones, can serve her, helping her not self-sabotage or self-derail.
Strategies for Processing Emotions
Emilya coaches Jen to explore how she best processes the tough emotions that it’s natural for her to try to avoid. Jen reflects on strategies, like physical movement, dance and joy. She decides to spend some time in the context of her new business sitting with the emotions. She comes away feeling more momentum, positive emotion and better able to communicate about her new business.
