In this Real-Time Resilience episode, join Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, CEO & Founder of The Flourishing Center, as she shares the real-time resilience story of Kate Ingram. Kate used real-time resilience to recover from anxiety and depression through mindfulness, community and physical activity. 

“The transformative power of positive psychology is very freeing.” 

In this episode Emiliya speaks with Kate Ingrim, a positive psychology infuser from Riverside New Jersey. Kate a positive psychology infuser. Kate used real-time resilience skills to change her mentality from victim to victor. She continues to use Positive Psychology throughout her journey of growth. Kate shares how she decided to take ownership and responsibility for her own needs and wants, while practicing self compassion. She was able to look at herself and stop blaming external factors and sources, and view herself in the light of self compassion. Her practices gratitude and empowerment helped her grow. 

“Be kind to yourself, and practice self-compassion.” 

Kate was able to shift her life away from anxiety and depression. Meditation, physical movement doing pilates, yoga and walking, all contributed to her feeling of empowerment. Mindfulness as a practice helped her develop gratitude, savoring, and forgiveness.  Community also played a role in her healing along the way. In the past, isolation and disconnect is where Kate would go when depressed, but now she now reaches out and draws on her community to feel accepted and a part of her support system. 
We can’t control what happens to us in life, but we can control whether we receive it as a victim or a victor. Positive Psychology can be used to help overcome symptoms of depression. Her multi-faceted approach to battling depression allowed Kate to go from being a victim to being a victor.
